CONCEPT STUDY

These studies provide our clients with the high level technical, commercial, environmental and scheduling information required to select the most appropriate development option. The concept study could include:

  • Identification of subsea tieback, layout and host options, including any host modifications
  • Assistance with host company discussions
  • Review of FPSO options and current market condition
  • Schedule highlighting Long Lead Items (LLIs) and impact of environmental conditions
  • High level costings

The output is a fully descriptive report suitable for internal approval, for consent by stakeholders and financial sponsors, or for review by potential partners.

PROJECT DEFINITION STUDY

Following the selection of host options, MICSL develops the required design information to enable sanction of the project and commitment of funds for development.

An output of the work is the development of all the information and documents required to issue Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages to the relevant construction contractors.

A project definition study will include:

  • Description of field architecture, pipeline configurations and layouts
  • Flow assurance studies (steady state and transient analysis)
  • Development of schematics for the subsea P&IDs
  • Preparation of the pre-FEED design premise
  • Definition of cost estimates - equipment, materials, fabrication and installation
  • Recommendations for FEED scope of work
  • Contracting strategy (based on agreed client key business drivers)
  • Statement of requirements
  • Project Execution Plan
  • Project schedule highlighting LLIs and impact of weather and location
  • Preparation of ITT documentation
  • Support for Field Development Plan (FDP) preparation for submission to DECC in the UK and for the PDO for submission to the MPE in Norway
